Akbar’s Court

About the Committee:

As members of the court of King Akbar the Great, the young Mughal emperor, delegates gather to advise the young leader on how to best consolidate the Indian subcontinent. However, whispers of the rise of an old enemy, the Rajputs, could mean that uniting the region will be no small feat. Will it be possible to compromise? Is it in the empire’s best interest to compromise? What is for certain is that  further expansion of the Mughal Empire is a must, but the Rajputs are determined to protect their sovereignty. The decisions of the Court are the most important determinants of the Empire’s future and whether there is a lot of bloodshed to come….

Arc A: to war or not to war

Arc B:  R is for rivalry (or romance?)

A LETTER FROM THE DaiS:

Dear delegates,

My name is Arya Sharma and I’m so excited to be a co-director on Royal Pains: King Akbar the Great’s Royal Court. I’m a Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience major, currently on the premed track. I was a director for The Arrow War last year and this is my third year with Model UN in a higher institution. When I’m not busy studying, you can catch me writing, cooking, or drawing! I hope this committee will be enjoyable, and that you all have fun!

My name is Neha Nair, and I’m thrilled to be one of your co-directors. This is my second year with MUNUM. In my first year, I was one of Arya’s rapporteurs for Here We Go Again: The Arrow War. I’m a junior at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, majoring in Public Policy, and minoring in Political Science and Computer Science. Outside of MUNUM, I compete on the Moot Court team, work part-time as a Student Assistant at the Office of the Provost, and I’m also in Delta Gamma Phi, a pre-law professional sorority. When I’m not doing my homework or extracurriculars, I love reading, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. I am so thrilled to meet all of you and make this the best conference ever! If you have any questions or concerns about the conference or otherwise, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

If you have questions about the committee or would like to address any possible concerns, we are available at aryash@umich.edu (Arya) and nxnair@umich.edu (Neha).

Best,

Arya and Neha

Co-Directors of Akbar’s Court
